A traveling social-dance floor seen from above. Couples travel counter-clockwise (the line of dance), each at its own speed. With high respect for lines they sort into clean lanes — fast on the outer edge, slow in the middle, in-place dancers in the centre; with low respect they become opportunists, taking whatever space is free and weaving past slower couples. Add disruptive behaviours and watch the flow back up. The run is reproducible from this page's link.
Speed mix
Each couple travels at its class speed; the sliders are relative shares of the crowd.
The dance culture. High: couples hold clean lanes by speed and circulate strictly (Argentine tango). Low: opportunists take whatever lane is free, weave past slower couples, and the flow loosens (Finnish social dances).
A bigger centre of in-place dancers leaves fewer travel lanes — one outer lane in cha-cha-cha, several in travelling dances.
